Release notes

What is new in Snapkin

Every app update, and what it changes for you. We leave out small fixes you would not notice, and work you cannot see.

Newest update Build 4687 · 10 October 2026 · Version 1.2.874 · Google Play

On iPhone, Snapkin now has its own camera for photographing your meal.

It works the same for one photo or several. You can zoom, and check your photo before you use it.

  • New: Take the photo now and add the meal later. Tap "Save for later" next to "Analyse meal", and finish it from + when you have time.
  • Better: Your photos start to upload as soon as you take them. So your meal gets its numbers sooner after you tap Analyse.
  • Better: Carbs no longer count the fibre, the same as on European food labels. Fruit, vegetables and wholegrain bread now come out a little lower in calories.
  • Better: Small amounts now show with a decimal, like 0.4 mg of iron, instead of rounding down to nothing. Your daily fibre and iron add up more truly.
  • Better: When you add a meal somebody shared with you, you pick which meal it was for you: breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack.
  • Fixed: Logging one of your usual meals no longer makes a dial say "not counted" for the whole day.
  • Fixed: Waiting for a password code that never comes? The app now says why that can happen, and lets you make an account instead.
  • Fixed: On Android, signing in now offers the password you saved in Google when you made your account on the website.
  • Fixed: Deleting a meal or forgetting a memory no longer makes the list jump. The Undo line is now as tall as the row was, and it says what you deleted.
  • Fixed: The bar under "Uploading" now fills up as your photos are sent, instead of staying empty.
  • Fixed: With active calories on, the calorie widget no longer starts the day with yesterday's movement added to your budget.

Build 4520

6 October 2026 · Version 1.2.707 · App Store
  • New: Setup now explains what Snapkin counts and why. Protein is the one number to reach. The rest are limits.
  • New: Pick the day and time of your weigh-in reminder, or turn it off. It is in Settings, under Notifications. A weight every week keeps your monthly check-in on track.
  • Better: When you pick your goal weight during setup, the part of the slider above your current weight is greyed out, so you can see where it stops.
  • Better: The app now says which numbers are targets and which are limits. Protein is a target to reach. Calories, carbs, fat and added sugar are limits to stay under. Tap the protein ring to read why protein comes first.
  • Better: The photo tips before your first meal show once. They no longer come back each time you add a photo.
  • Better: In Settings, under Camera, a label now shows which camera you use right now.
  • Better: When you swipe back, you now see the screen you came from under your finger.
  • Better: Turning off meal reminders no longer turns off your weigh-in reminder.
  • Better: The list of your weigh-ins now shows only the days you weighed, under your weight chart. Tap the arrows above the list to see every day and fill in one you missed.
  • Better: "Weigh in for your check-in" now opens your weighings, with today's field ready to type in.
  • Fixed: No more blue ring around "Add a photo" after you pick a photo.
  • Fixed: Going back to the menu no longer flashes the Today screen first.
  • Fixed: The camera for several photos now gets sharp close-ups, like the label on a pack. Tapping the picture focuses on the spot you tapped. Each photo shows exactly what you saw in the camera, in more detail.
  • Fixed: The tips before your first meal no longer stop half off the screen when you swipe back.
  • Fixed: The weight check-in now shows the weight you added today.

Build 4302

4 October 2026 · Version 1.2.489 · Google Play
  • New: A meal still waiting to upload is sent again as soon as your phone switches network, for example from 5G to wifi. You can also pull your day down to send it straight away.
  • New: Change your diet, the foods you avoid and your note about allergies at any time, in Settings, under Diet.
  • New: Change how you weigh in, in Settings, under Weigh-ins. Have a smart scale? Connect it there and your weight fills itself in.
  • New: Change your sex, height and year of birth in your profile, under About you. Your daily goal updates to match.
  • Better: When the app asks you a question, you can tap an answer and also type a note. "About 200 g" plus "with mayo" now counts both.
  • Fixed: On Android, a photo you just took no longer gets lost. Before, the app could go back to the home screen after you tapped OK, without your meal.
  • Fixed: When a photo cannot be read, the app now says so. Before, it closed without a word.
  • Fixed: History checks each day against the target you had on that day, plus what your watch measured. Changing your target no longer changes how past days look.
  • Fixed: Turning off active calories no longer changes past days. Days that counted your movement keep it.
  • Fixed: The chat on a meal no longer says it forgot something about you. It only changes that meal, and now it tells you where to delete it for good.
  • Fixed: A change you ask for on one meal, like "make these portions 20% bigger", now stays on that meal. It no longer changes every meal after it.
  • Fixed: A meal you just added no longer disappears from your day until you restart the app.
  • Fixed: During setup, the goal weight slider no longer moves while its number stays the same.

Build 4225

3 October 2026 · Version 1.2.412 · App Store + Google Play
  • New: Closed the add screen by mistake? Your photos and text are kept as a draft for 48 hours. Tap + to finish it, or swipe it left to delete it.
  • New: After a month, the app checks your calorie target with you. It shows what you logged and what your weight did. Then it suggests a target that fits your body. See how it works. Nothing changes until you say yes.
  • New: The app checks in sooner if your weight changes a lot. It also checks in as soon as you reach your goal weight.
  • New: During setup you choose how you weigh in: from Apple Health or Health Connect, by hand with a reminder on Monday, or not at all.
  • New: Take several photos of one meal without the camera closing. Photograph the plate, the packaging and the label, then tap the green tick. They all go into one meal. Turn it on in Settings, under Camera.
  • New: In that camera, tap the picture to focus on a spot. Tap a photo you took to see it bigger, and swipe to see the others.
  • New: Settings shows how to add Snapkin to your home screen and lock screen, so you can see today's numbers without opening the app.
  • New: See your calories and protein on your watch face. It works on Apple Watch and on Wear OS watches.
  • New: Settings has a new page, Your watch, that shows how to add Snapkin to your watch.
  • New: Follow two more nutrients next to protein, like fibre or salt. Pick them in Settings, under Your dials. On Today, swipe the card next to protein up once to see them.
  • New: Each one has a daily target that fits you. See where the targets come from.
  • Better: Deleting a meal or a weigh-in no longer asks first. You get a few seconds to tap Undo instead, and the totals at the top change straight away. Clearing a Coach chat has the same Undo.
  • Better: Buttons like Save and Delete stay at the bottom of the screen, so you never have to scroll to find them.
  • Better: A button you cannot press yet is grey, so it is clear it is not ready.
  • Better: Memory is easier to read. Each meal opens its own page, and each thing Snapkin learned opens its own page to fix it.
  • Better: Forgot something by mistake? You get a few seconds to tap Undo and keep it.
  • Better: Setup now starts on the middle pace, not the slowest one. You can still pick another.
  • Better: If your phone counts your steps, the check-in shows how much you moved. If you don't weigh in, it can suggest a better activity level.
  • Better: Eating something you had before is faster. Your usual meals are ready when you open the app, so tapping one opens it straight away.
  • Better: Settings is sorted into clear groups: your targets, your phone and watch, and your preferences.
  • Better: The first-photo tips now ask you to keep your fork, glass and a bit of table in the photo. We use them to judge how big your portion is.
  • Better: Swipe left to delete a weigh-in, or an ingredient while you edit a meal. It works the same way as deleting a meal.
  • Fixed: The goals screen no longer says your activity was adjusted when nothing changed.
  • Fixed: Signing in with Google now works on Android. Before, it showed an error and did not sign you in.
  • Fixed: A new meal no longer flashes "Nothing logged yet" between uploading and analysing.
  • Fixed: After you correct a meal, answering its new question no longer fails again and again.
  • Fixed: When you log a usual meal at a smaller or bigger portion, each item now says what share of the usual portion it is.
  • Fixed: A second plate of the same meal is now judged from its own photo, instead of being copied from the first plate.
  • Fixed: When a question asks which food it was, picking a different food now updates the meal straight away. The meal also shows how many calories could still change, instead of just a question mark.
  • Fixed: When you correct a meal, Snapkin no longer says it changed something without changing it.
  • Fixed: On older Android phones, Snapkin can now read your weight from Health Connect.

Build 3493

28 September 2026 · Version 1.1.82 · App Store + Google Play
  • New: Use pounds and feet if you like. Tap "lb" or "ft" next to your weight or height, and your weights and heights show that way.
  • Better: Before you have logged anything, Usual meal now explains how it fills up, instead of showing an empty list.
  • Better: The yearly plan costs €49.99 while the launch offer lasts, instead of €99.99. Take it now and you keep that price for as long as you stay subscribed.
  • Fixed: Typing your weight during setup no longer jumps it to 40 kg or hides your goal weight.

Build 3411

26 September 2026 · Version 1.1.0 · App Store + Google Play
  • New: Snapkin is in the App Store. The buttons on the website now take you straight to the App Store or Google Play.
  • New: On iPhone, Settings has a "Rate Snapkin" button.
  • New: Pages that compare Snapkin with MyFitnessPal, Cal AI, Cronometer, Lose It! and YAZIO, in every language: compare the apps.
  • New: Had it before? Tap +, then "Usual meal". Your likely meals are waiting, with their photos. Tap one and it is logged again, with the same numbers as last time. How it knows what you eat.
  • New: "Your dishes" in the menu keeps every meal you eat. Give one your own name, a note or a picture, or fix its portion once.
  • New: Open a meal to see all its nutrients, not only the big four. You see sugar, fibre, saturated fat, salt and minerals like iron and calcium.
  • New: New badges for coming back after a week away, for trying different dishes, and for sharing a meal or adding one a friend shared.
  • New: A badge for every milestone you spend with Snapkin: one month, three months, six months and a year.
  • New: We tested Snapkin on 500 meals weighed on a scale. It reaches 83% median accuracy per meal, which means a typical meal lands within 17% of the real calories, and 90% over a week. See the results.
  • Better: Adding a meal opens a small window over your day, not a new page. It works the same for a photo, for several photos, or for typing what you ate.
  • Better: The box you type in shows a new example each time you open it. The examples show what you can tell it about your food.
  • Better: When you add one of your usual meals or a meal a friend shared, you pick how much you ate with a slider. You can pick any amount, not only half, the same or double.
  • Better: The same window now shows how much each part of the meal weighs, not only its calories.
  • Better: The subscription screen now says the plan renews by itself, and what the free days turn into.
  • Better: Settings has a way to email us, and links to the privacy policy and the terms.
  • Better: Your profile says whether your plan renews every month or every year.
  • Better: The setup now shows how accurate a photo is from our own test on 500 weighed meals: about 83% for one meal, 90% over a week.
  • Better: Where the app explains its numbers, the studies now open inside the app.
  • Better: On a phone, the website only shows the store for your phone.
  • Better: The app icon has a bigger photo and plate, so it is easier to spot on your home screen.
  • Better: When you open the add menu, the page behind it goes soft and darker, and the tabs and the chat button step aside. Only the four ways to add a meal stay sharp.
  • Better: Everything behind a pop-up is a little darker, so the pop-up stands out more.
  • Better: Editing a meal is calmer. Tap an ingredient to open it, then change how much you ate with a slider. 0.5×, 1×, 1.5× or 2× is one tap. Your phone ticks as you slide.
  • Better: A meal without a photo now shows a small picture of the kind of meal it was, instead of a pencil.
  • Better: The menu now shows how many memories and dishes you have, and how many rewards you have earned.
  • Better: Sugar is split in two: natural sugar and added sugar.
  • Better: Add or rename a food yourself, and Snapkin works out its nutrients too.
  • Better: The price on the subscription screen now says that tax is included.
  • Better: On iPhone, the app now says "Apple Health" when it asks to read your weight and steps.
  • Better: On a meal you shared, the "Stop sharing" button is now easier to see.
  • Better: Snapkin only asks for a rating right after a meal comes back, never when you just opened the app.
  • Better: "Rate Snapkin" moved from Settings to the menu, under "Share Snapkin".
  • Better: Tap share on a meal to get its link. You can copy it, send it, or stop sharing. The app no longer opens the send screen by itself. The share button then says "Shared", and a shared meal shows a small globe in your day.
  • Better: Swipe any pop-up box down to close it. Every box now has the little bar on top that shows you can.
  • Better: The close button on every pop-up box looks the same and sits in the same place, top right.
  • Fixed: The Restore purchases button no longer disappears when the prices fail to load.
  • Fixed: Making an ingredient without a weight smaller no longer sets its calories to zero.
  • Fixed: When you correct a meal and the reply says it changed something, the numbers now really change.
  • Fixed: A meal you take from somebody's share link now becomes one of your own dishes. You can log it again later without taking a new photo.
  • Fixed: The privacy policy now names the AI services that really read your meals, and where they run.
  • Fixed: When you answer a question and it takes something off a meal, the meal's name changes too. Raspberries without the cheese are no longer called "raspberries with cheese".
  • Fixed: The photo at the top of a meal is sharp again, not blurry and blocky.
Snapkin app screen for a meal a friend shared: 509 kcal for breakfast, a note that somebody already counted it, and a choice of Half, The same or Double portion.

Build 2781

  • Better: If your payment went through but your subscription is not ready, you can now try again. You will not pay twice.
  • Better: Setting your goal is easier. Pick your target weight on a ruler, and see a chart of when you will reach it.
  • Fixed: Some people paid but did not get access. Your subscription now goes to the account you paid from.

  • Better: Snapkin tells you when it is time to check your goals, for example when your weight has changed. You see your old and new daily target side by side.
