Snapkin is a calorie tracker built around one idea: the reason people quit calorie trackers is not that the numbers are wrong, it is that the logging is work. Weighing rice, scanning barcodes and picking the right oatmeal out of a list of fourteen is a second job, and nobody keeps a second job for long. So Snapkin asks for one thing per meal, a photograph, and does the arithmetic itself.
What it is honest about
An estimate from a photograph is an estimate. Across our own benchmark of sixty meals it lands a median of 18% from the true figure, and 42% away at the ninetieth percentile. That is good enough to run a deficit on and not good enough to call a measurement, so the app shows the assumption behind every ingredient rather than handing over a total and hoping you do not ask.
It puts protein first for the same reason. In a deficit, protein is the macro that decides how much of the loss is fat rather than muscle, so it is a floor to reach rather than a ceiling to stay under, and it gets the big dial.
How it is built
- Your food diary is not for sale, is not shared with advertisers, and is not training data for anybody's model.
- There is no analytics, no tracking and no advertising anywhere in the app or on this site.
- Photographs are stored privately and are shown back to you through short-lived signed links.
- One subscription, no free tier, no upsells. What you pay for is the whole app.
- You can delete everything yourself, from inside the app, in a few taps.

Who makes it
Snapkin is an independent product, built and run by Robot Studios IT Consultancy BV in Belgium. It is not backed by an advertising business and it does not have one to fall back on, which is exactly why it costs money.
